Laurel Arts is EXCITED to present an exploration into the world of KINDNESS through our exhibit – “Creating Kindness.” This unique exhibit will explore our understandings of kindness and the impact it has on our lives and communities AND will encourage visitors and community members to engage in the awesome act that IS KINDNESS!!
“Creating Kindness” aims to blend the beauty of art with the scientific proof of health benefits of engaging in kind acts, as well as real shared experiences through a growing “Post-Kindness” art installation.
We are THRILLED to also include works from regional artist, Larry Brandstetter, who will speak about his creative and colorful artwork at the opening reception (Nov. 16) at 2:30 p.m. Check out his artwork below.
Artist Statement:
I call it doodling…pulling things out of my head, to create what comes to mind. Free association is my favorite way to stumble upon the imagination that is boundless.
Daydreaming with pens and pencils in hand, creating fun illustrations which are characterized by whimsical characters, shape, lines, fun objects and simple things. Unusual combinations lead to strong results.
My collages reflect the imaginative style of my drawings. Glue, paper, scissors take your eyes on a fun, complex journey of playful subjects, hidden treasures and some pretty cool creatures. I challenge the viewer to attempt to take it all in and enjoy the adventure. Created with joy and adding messages of positivity, my high-spirited artwork makes people happy and most importantly…Smile. Keep making Art
As always, our exhibits and receptions are open to the public and are free to attend.
