Laurel Arts 11th Triennial Show
Whether those two words are seen as verbs, or nouns, think of the positivity they suggest. How might your artwork reflect a spirit of uniting people, places, ideas, or suggest a particular concern for “divisions” you recognize?
To build is active, sometimes challenging work. To bridge means reaching out to get across, to link, to connect. What would your bridges look like? Are they existing structures, or perhaps even metaphorical with layers of meaning? What would you mend, bring together, or discard? The visual interpretation is up to you, with full license to explore your medium and imagination.
Artists are sometimes lauded as “shape-makers, symbol collectors, and entertainers,” said Edger Whitney, artist-teacher.
This exhibit will be on display from June 22 through August 5, 2021. An opening reception will be held on Friday, July 2nd, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
ABOUT OUR JUROR: Diane Kelly is an artist and owner of Firesong Studio, near Bedford, PA, and has an extensive background in graphic arts and fine arts. She has exhibited work in various galleries, served as a juror at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, writes for and has worked as a technical editor for Interweave Press, contributing to both Handwoven magazine and various other books. Diane lives on her farm where she trains working Border Collies, operates her weaving studio/yarn shop, paints, teaches weaving, spinning and knitting classes among her other artistic pursuits. She is constantly exploring the relationship between fine arts and fiber arts.
