SUMMARY:Wool Braided Rug Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Instructor Lisa Meyers will be offering another one of her beautiful rug making classes this spring. This is a class that teaches a machine free\, gadget free\, ancient method of making braided rugs. Braided rugs and other homemade rugs are ultimate recycling projects. Going back to prehistory\, mankind has always recycled. These rugs\, when cared for properly\, become heirlooms. Learn all the techniques and problem solving skills needed to create a quality rug. Since this is a craft\, the skills will be developed in each student according to their needs. The “Art” part is in the selection of color combinations.\nThe first lesson is 1 hour or so to go over all the proper materials\, needles\, thread\, thimble\, scissors and a lesson on color theory to help you personalize your project. No need to bring anything unless you want to make sure it is correct. Handouts are given with each night’s lessons. This is a very important and can not be missed. There will be plenty of time for questions.\n***Please do not buy any materials ahead of this lesson. Richelle creates in several areas of art but her first class with us will be alcohol inks card making. Alcohol inks are fluid and can be used to create beautiful designs. During this workshop\, students will have a chance to be creative and choose from a variety of colors to craft beautiful and colorful cards. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to offer an all new experience at Laurel Arts – a Wine & Watercolors Pairing! Lee Hetrick of Vin De Matrix Winery will guide participants through a colorful palette of wines to taste test. Following the tasting\, students will join instructor Cory Moreland for step by step instructions on creating a beautiful watercolor piece.\n\nThe cost of the event includes the wine tastings along with all supplies to create your watercolor painting.\nBottles of wine will also be available for purchase.\n\n$43 nonmembers/$36 members payable to Laurel Arts plus $7 payable directly to Vin De Matrix Winery\nThursday\, May 23 at 6pm at 601 Georgian Place\, Somerset\n\nPreregistration is required by May 20. Space is limited so register early. Our new payment policy requires students to pay 50% of the total tuition and materials upon registration. This is non-refundable. DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Modern Brush Calligraphy: Do you swoon over beautiful hand-written calligraphy? Have you been aching to learn how it’s done? In this three week introductory course\, you’ll put brush pen to paper & learn the basic calligraphy shapes and how to turn them into letters so you can start swooning over your own calligraphy!\nInstructor: Emily Hoffman\nThe class takes place on Tuesdays; May 21\, 28 & June 4 at 6pm to 8pm at 601 Georgian Place\, Somerset.\nThe cost is $80 nonmembers/$64 members payable to Laurel Arts plus a $12 materials fee.\nPreregistration is required and class size is limited.
