DESCRIPTION:  \nHave you always wanted to learn to crochet and didn’t know how to get started? Join Instructor Tami Skavang for a 4 week session to learn the basics. Tami will show students a variety of stitches; chain stitch\, single crochet\, double crochet\, triple crochet\, half double crochet. Learn to read patterns and what the crochet abbreviations mean so you can continue to crochet on your own after the classes. SUMMARY:Hop Aboard the Mayflower! Day Camp
DESCRIPTION:  \nWe had such a great time this summer that we decided to offer camps year round for ages 4-5 alone and 3 & under accompanied by an adult. Class would also be suitable for homeschooled children up to 3rd grade. The sessions include crafts\, games\, recipes\, and storytime. Classes will run Thursday mornings 10am to Noon. The cost per month is $40 nonmembers/$32 members and includes 3 sessions. Lee Hetrick of Vin De Matrix Winery will guide participants through the best flavors of wine to enjoy with a variety of six cupcakes. Cupcakes will be baked by Stacie Custer of Stacie’s Sweets & Eats. The flavors will all be themed for Fall!\nThe cost of the event includes the wine tastings along with 6 Fall cupcake samples. SUMMARY:Needle Felting Christmas Ornaments
DESCRIPTION:We are excited for local artist Loretta Radeschi to return to Laurel Arts for another Needle Felting class. This time she will be taking her art to a new level as students create Christmas ornaments by using cookie cutters to make the shapes. The participants will lay the cutters on a foam board and poke wool into the shape. Once enough wool has taken the shape of the cutter\, it will be turned over and needle felted on the reverse side. This makes the base of wool more substantial. Each piece can be made as thick or as thin as the participant would like. Once the desired thickness is reached\, decorating begins. The round ornaments can be made by forming a ball out of wool. Feel free to bring your favorite cookie cutters. Students will be able to complete three ornaments.\nLoretta will provide all the materials needed. No experience necessary. This class is designed for students ages 8 through adult.\nClass takes place on Saturday\, November 12 at 1pm to 3pm at 601 Georgian Place\, Somerset.\nThe cost for the workshop is $25 nonmembers/$20 members payable to Laurel Arts plus a $8 materials fee payable to Loretta Radeschi.\nPre-registration is required. Join Instructor Marsha Schmuck for the afternoon to learn to make your own pumpkin pie from scratch. We will start out with a delicious dough recipe that can be used on any pie. We will take things a step further as we use the pie in another way to create mini pies for a platter. We will even use the leftover scraps to create another yummy treat! SUMMARY:Turkey Cake Decorating Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Instructor Stacie Custer will be showing students how to decorate this adorable turkey cake just in time for Thanksgiving. Stacie is in the process of opening her own bakery here in Somerset\, Stacie’s Sweets and Eats. She has experience in making a variety of cakes\, cookies\, and sweets for any and all events.\nStudents will be guided step by step to create a 6″ dome cake similar to the one in the photo. This includes working with fondant to create details. The feathers will be made of foam and would be perfect for family & friends to add things they are thankful for at your holiday gathering. I’m sure they will be thankful for this beautiful cake! It can be placed in the fridge to keep til Thanksgiving Day. She has previously been a design team member for Not Too Shabby Stamps and Blue Knight Rubber Stamps. Tracy’s favorite card making techniques are hot foiling\, toner foiling and card making with stencils.
