SUMMARY:Wool Braided Rug Workshop - Afternoon Session
DESCRIPTION:Instructor Lisa Meyers will be offering another one of her beautiful rug making classes! This is a class that teaches a machine free\, gadget free\, ancient method of making braided rugs. Braided rugs and other homemade rugs are ultimate recycling projects. Going back to prehistory\, mankind has always recycled. These rugs\, when cared for properly\, become heirlooms. Learn all the techniques and problem solving skills needed to create a quality rug. Since this is a craft\, the skills will be developed in each student according to their needs. The “Art” part is in the selection of color combinations.The first lesson is 1 hour or so to go over all the proper materials\, needles\, thread\, thimble\, scissors and a lesson on color theory to help you personalize your project. No need to bring anything unless you want to make sure it is correct. Handouts are given with each night’s lessons. This is a very important and can not be missed. There will be plenty of time for questions.***Please do not buy any materials ahead of this lesson. After the information session in the first week\, students will be responsible for purchasing any materials needed for the project. This is not included in the class fee.You may start a 3′ X 5′ rug or a 10″ X 16″ place mat. Either will give you the knowledge and experience to make as many rugs as your heart desires!First class takes place on Wednesday\, May 13 at 1pm to 2pm. We will take a one week break to allow time to purchase materials. The following 4 classes will be on Wednesdays; May 27\, June 3\, 10\, 17 at 1pm to 3:30pm.\nCost for the class is $65 nonmembers/$52 members.
